Biography

      From a very young age, Dr Gershengoren knew that she was going to become a Psychiatrist. Her interest in human behavior along with a strong desire to help others has brought her here today.     

      Dr Gershengoren's journey into medicine began with a combined specialized B.A.-M.D. Program through Brooklyn College and SUNY Downstate Medical Center. She graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Psychology from Brooklyn College and subsequently, received her M.D. degree at SUNY Downstate Medical Center where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. During her time in medical school, Dr Gershengoren also completed a Master’s in Public Health with a focus on community mental health. 

      Dr Gershengoren went on to complete a residency in General Adult Psychiatry at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she received the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Department Trainee Award, and a fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine (Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry) at the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. Dr Gershengoren also completed psychoanalytic fellowship at the New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute.

      Dr Gershengoren is currently on faculty at the New York University School of Medicine. In addition to her clinical and hospital responsibilities, Dr Gershengoren is involved in NYU medical student education as well as the NYU Psychiatry Residency Training Program.
